Marburger Farm Antique Show: What Buyers and Designers Need to Know

If you’ve been to Round Top, you know that “the show” is really dozens of shows spread across miles of Texas Hill Country. But among all the venues along Highway 237, Marburger Farm holds a special place. It’s where the most serious buyers — and the most serious dealers — tend to congregate. If you’re planning your first trip or looking to get more out of your next one, here’s what you need to know.

What Makes Marburger Farm Different

Marburger Farm Antique Show runs concurrently with Round Top’s main shows in spring (late March) and fall (mid-to-late October). It operates out of a dedicated fairground — a proper venue with organized tents, clear vendor maps, and a level of curation that separates it from the more sprawling fields at Warrenton or Burton.

The dealers at Marburger tend to specialize. You’ll find booths dedicated entirely to 18th-century French furniture, or focused exclusively on vintage lighting, or stocked with nothing but European garden antiques. The quality is high and so are the prices — but for interior designers sourcing for high-end residential projects, Marburger is often where the best pieces are.

The Layout: How to Navigate Without Losing Your Mind

Marburger spans multiple large tents and a handful of outdoor areas. First-timers often underestimate how big it is — plan for a full day minimum, and two if you’re shopping seriously. A few practical notes:

  • Get there early. The best pieces go in the first two days, sometimes the first few hours. Dealers sell from the moment doors open.
  • Pick up a map at the entrance. The venue is well-organized but big enough that you’ll want a map to track which tents you’ve covered.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. You’re covering a lot of ground on grass and gravel. Leave the nice shoes for the client presentation.
  • Bring your measurements. Know your ceiling heights, doorway widths, and room dimensions before you arrive. You will find something you love that you’re not sure will fit.

What Sells Fast at Marburger

Certain categories move quickly at Marburger, especially in the first two days:

  • 18th and 19th century European furniture — French, Swedish, and Italian painted pieces are particularly popular with designers right now
  • Mirrors and architectural elements — trumeau mirrors, overmantel mirrors, and decorative panels go fast
  • Lighting — chandeliers, sconces, and table lamps with character
  • Fine art — oil paintings, especially portraits and landscapes with provenance
  • Garden antiques — stone urns, cast iron benches, and planters

If you’re shopping for any of these categories, prioritize Marburger on day one.

How Shipping Works from Marburger Farm

This is where a lot of buyers run into trouble. You’ve bought a gilded mirror, a pair of console tables, and a painting. The dealers pack up on the last day of the show. How do you get everything home?

Your main options:

  • Rent a truck yourself. Possible for small loads, but you’re responsible for all the packing and any damage in transit.
  • Use a pallet freight broker. Fast, but your antiques get treated like commercial freight. Damage rates are high for fragile pieces.
  • Hire a personal antique shipper. This is what most experienced designers do. Your shipper picks up directly from Marburger Farm, pad-wraps and blankets every piece properly, and delivers to your door — or your client’s door.

Livraison Express LA picks up directly from Marburger Farm on every Round Top show. We’re based in La Grange — 15 minutes away — which means we can coordinate pickups across multiple venues in the same trip. Buy at Marburger, buy at Warrenton, buy at a private dealer off the highway — we handle all of it in a single consolidated shipment to Austin, Houston, San Antonio, or Dallas.
